Karyn Spade-director of bands and choir
Mrs. Spade is originally from Hermann, MO but now resides in Giles County. She is a graduate of Meadow Bridge High School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education at Bluefield College in 1999. During her time there, she was involved in the performing ensembles Bluefield Singers and Variations. Before coming to NHS, Mrs. Spade taught choir at Bluefield Middle School at Bluefield, WV. At NHS, Mrs. Spade teaches Marching Band, Concert Band, Choir and Music Appreciation. She also teaches Beginning and Intermediate Band at NEMS. Mrs. Spade is also involved in several professional affiliations including: The National Association for Music Education, The VA Music Educators Association, and The VA Band and Orchestra Directors Association. She is also very active in her church, Cumberland Heights Baptist Church, as worship music and choral leader.
When Mrs. Spade is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jonathan and children, Dylan, Paige, Ian, and Carli. In her free time, she likes to farm and garden! Mrs. Spade loves all different types of music.
